(Tuesday 7/3)
You know what a free day means... sleep!! Meanwhile the boys got up early again to do s
some crazy nonsense, but we took our sweet time to get rest and then went on to see things.
Once we were all set (this was like 1pm I told you we took our sweet time), we took the train into London Waterloo, then took the tube to Westminster. We walked along and saw Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, and the Palace of Westminster. (I'll be completely honest with you, the whole time we were headed to Westminster Abbey I was thinking of Downton Abbey, even though I don't completely know what that is either, I think I was confusing Westminster Abbey with Downton Abbey and Downton Abbey with Diagon Alley from Harry Potter - anyway I was all sorts of confused but my wonderful travel companions were kind enough to set me straight on it all). It was all so beautiful and reminded me a lot of the architecture we saw in Vienna. It was also similar to Vienna in the way that everywhere you turned there was something beautiful to see.
We all got hungry pretty quick (I mean I guess it was also a bit past lunchtime due to our late start) so we made our way down towards an area that had a lot of food. We ended up eating at Zizzi, an Italian place that had amazing pizza. I got the Pollo Roquito and it came with half a pizza and a side salad which provided a really nice balance. I swear by the end of the time here I will most likely have a whole album of food pictures. I love eating at all these different places and I feel like each meal I have had here has been really aesthetically pleasing.

After another wonderful meal, we headed towards Buckingham Palace, as it was a key place we all wanted to see. Unfortunately, we didn't see any of the typical guards in red with the tall hats, but it was pretty cool anyway. The square in front of the palace was so widespread, and there were plenty of tourists there of course. The palace looked so big when you stood right under it; I can't imagine living there and all the rooms it must have inside.
We headed back to the Underground and caught a tube to Soho to meet up with the boys. We looked around some of the shops, but nothing really caught our eye. However, the street art was super cool and there were so many different styles of art. We also ducked into a "vintage/retro" shop (it wasn't actually vintage just made to look vintage), but it was a bit overpriced. It was quite funny though, because they were selling Hawaiian shirts for like 50 pounds, whereas here you would find them for like $2 in Goodwill.
After this, we went in search of somewhere to watch the World Cup game, and everywhere was packed of course, but we found a place right outside of Chinatown. While we were there, this lady came and pretty much set up shop in the bathroom, trying to sell perfumes/lotions, and giving you soap and paper towels in exchange for tips. It was just bizarre because that would never happen in the US, or if it did, the restaurant or wherever she was would not allow her to stay, so that was interesting to experience.

Once the game finished, we walked around Chinatown for a quick second, and a few of us got food (because hello Chinatown, good Chinese food, things I need in my life) before heading back for the night.
