Lazy Days and New Cultures

Updated: Jul 28, 2018

(Tuesday 7/10)

Well it would have been a nice day to sleep in, if I hadn't been woken up to jackhammers early in the morning, as well as our noisy upstairs neighbors that literally do not sleep or sit down (how??!??). There have been very few very short periods of time that I have not heard them stomping around upstairs and up and down the staircase since they have arrived.

After an early start, we headed up to breakfast before deciding to go into town and to the Friary to look around. The boys had headed off to Antwerp early this morning, so it was just us girls, who actually need days to rest - literally don't know how the boys do it all the time but props to them. The Friary was having really great sales so we stopped in at a couple shops, before coming back to campus for the meet up with the international students.

The meet up was actually really fun and there were a lot of interesting people there! We had some really interesting conversations comparing our different cultures and it was crazy hearing about how different some places were. I was really glad to have one of the girls from China in my group, since it is so different from the US and it was a really interesting place to hear about from an insider's perspective. Also, the nachos they gave us were sooo good and I was pretty hungry so they went pretty quick. The fries were also really good, with that perfect balance of squishy and crunchy. When leaving, I looked around at the other tables and their food was very lightly touched, whereas the food on our table was pretty much destroyed.. oops I was hungry!! (Also not the only one who dug into the food, I think we just got the hungry table lol)

We headed back to our rooms to get some more rest and work on some assignments. It was a very lazy evening and no one really felt like getting up, so we all got Deliveroo. I got a poke bowl delivered with rice, seaweed, masago, nori, and spicy tuna. The tuna honestly tasted a bit off but I ate it anyway so fingers crossed with that.

I ended my night watching a lot of Love Island. The boys are still in Antwerp I believe and the train workers went on strike so good luck to them and hopefully that all gets resolved (glad I stayed!) !
